Norwich Jamaica Aid Fundraiser: Rebel Lion & Friends at Space Studios

Sound system culture was born in Jamaica, built on heavyweight bass, upliftment, and community solidarity. Following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa across the island, Norwich’s roots and reggae community is answering the call.

On Saturday 21st November, East Anglia Jamaica Aid links up with veteran stalwarts Rebel Lion Sound System and a heavyweight line-up of selectors and sounds at Space Studios on Swan Lane for an all-night session dedicated to direct disaster recovery.

The Line-Up: Sound System Culture in Full Effect

Norwich’s roots history runs deep, and for nearly three decades, Rebel Lion has been at the very heart of it. Known across East Anglia and the wider UK dub circuit for their custom-built stacks, conscious selections, and strictly positive vibrations, Rebel Lion will be joined by a packed roster of regional champions:

  • Rebel Lion & Friends

  • Ashanti Yard

  • Reddaz

  • Free King Sound

  • Sugakane

  • Serious Lee

  • Apex Hi-Fi

  • Unatty

Expect seven straight hours of roots, dub, steppers, and classic reggae spun with conscious purpose.

Where the Money Goes: Transparent, Direct Relief

When disaster strikes, traditional aid often gets tangled in bureaucratic delays and port logjams. East Anglia Jamaica Aid operates on a direct, community-first principle.

We partner straight with trusted grassroots organisations operating on the ground in Jamaica:

  • BREDS (The Treasure Beach Foundation): Supplying emergency shelter, tools, and rebuilding materials directly to the hardest-hit communities across St. Elizabeth.

  • Word Sound Power Collective (WSPC): Funding vital home repairs, healthcare, and welfare for vulnerable Rastafari elders.

Every penny donated in our buckets on the night or given online goes straight toward the rebuild pot.
